Volunteers
The Auxiliary
The Culpeper Regional Health System (CRHS) Auxiliary is a volunteer organization made up of more than 200 men and women from all around our service region — Culpeper, Madison, Orange (including Lake of the Woods), Rappahannock, and Southern Fauquier counties. Founded in 1959 with the sole purpose of supporting the new hospital, members of this organization were an integral part of the conception and planning of Culpeper Regional Hospital.
We owe a debt of gratitude to our Auxiliary for its ongoing support throughout the years. The Auxiliary has contributed not only an immeasurable amount of love and support to our patients and staff, but also more than one million hours in volunteer service and millions of dollars in financial contributions.
In addition to serving our patients, visitors, and staff throughout the hospital and health system, the volunteers operate the Coffee Shop and the Gift Shop within the hospital, and the Auxiliary Thrift Shop located in Culpeper's Meadowbrook Shopping Center. Proceeds from these three entities are donated to the health system and have helped fund many important needs, such as the Aquatics Center at the Powell Wellness Center, the digital mammography machine in Medical Imaging, and scholarships for local high school students pursuing medical careers.
The service organization also sponsors a volunteer arm for young people ages 13 to 17. The Junior Auxiliary works at the hospital primarily during the summer, assisting in the Coffee Shop, on the floor, at the reception desk, and in other hospital departments to broaden their experiences while learning about various healthcare careers.
For more than 50 years, the CRHS Auxiliary has made a difference in how our community hospital runs each day. The caring assistance they give to patients and their loved ones, the support they offer staff day in and day out, and the funds they raise throughout the year truly make our hospital and health system better.
