What to Bring
Here are some helpful guidelines on what to bring with you on your visit to the hospital for both outpatient services and inpatient admissions.
Outpatient Admissions
- Please be certain that you have followed any instructions your physician has given you in advance to prepare for a test or procedure.
- If for any reason you have not followed the instructions, you will need to check with your physician to determine if your test or procedure will need to be rescheduled.
- Don't forget to bring your insurance card for Medicare, Medicaid, Blue Cross Blue Shield, or other health insurance for the admitting process.
- Bring a list of all medications you take, including the dosage, and any allergy or sensitivity information.
- Wear comfortable, nonrestrictive clothing that is easy for you to remove. Some tests and procedures may require you to wear a hospital gown, which will be provided to you.
- You may want to bring some reading material or other activities (e.g., crossword puzzles, Sudoku, etc.) in case there is a wait before or in between your tests. We will do our very best to minimize your wait time.
Inpatient Admissions
We recognize that a hospital stay can cause some people to feel anxious. We will do our best to make you feel comfortable and safe. Your care is being overseen by our skilled medical staff, which includes more than 160 physicians. If you are preparing for a hospital stay, here are some things for you to bring to help make your stay a little easier and ensure the admission process goes smoothly.
- If you are a surgical patient, please be certain that you have followed any instructions your physician has given you in advance to prepare for a test or procedure.
- If, for any reason, you have not followed the instructions, you will need to check with your physician to determine if your test or procedure will need to be rescheduled.
- Bring your Medicare, Medicaid, Blue Cross Blue Shield, or other insurance card for the admitting process when you check in.
- Bring your glasses, hearing aids, crutches, braces, and/or any other devices and aids you normally use.
- Bring a list of all medications you take, including the dosage, and any allergy or sensitivity information. Do not bring the actual medication unless your physician has asked you to do so. While you are in the hospital, medications may be prescribed by your physician, dispensed by the hospital's pharmacy, and administered by your nurses.
- You will be given a hospital gown to wear when you reach your room. There is a small closet in your room for your street clothes. Please do not bring valuables to the hospital. If for some reason you do have valuable items with you, contact our security staff for safe, temporary storage of such items. If you have a favorite sweater, shawl, cap, or other garment that makes you feel more comfortable, we invite you to bring it. Please keep in mind that Culpeper Regional Hospital is not responsible for securing your personal items, and you should make arrangements with family members or friends for the care of personal items.
- You will also want to bring your own personal grooming items: toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, brush/comb, etc. We ask that you not bring perfumes and/or other strongly scented items out of respect for other patients' illnesses, allergies, or sensitivities.
- Cellphones are permitted in designated areas only. Please do not use a cellphone in any patient care area. Cellphones interfere with our telemetry (radio signal devices) equipment and other monitors.
