CRH Scores 'A' in Patient Safety
Culpeper Regional Hospital (CRH) was awarded an 'A' in the latest update to the Hospital Safety ScoreSM by The Leapfrog Group, a nonprofit organization that scores hospitals on their overall performance in keeping patients safe from preventable harm and medical errors. The Hospital Safety Score uses 26 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to produce a score representing a hospital's overall capacity to keep patients safe from infections, injuries, and medical and medication errors. During the evaluation period, CRH had zero hospital acquired conditions.

Exceeding Patient Expectations
We are proud to report CRH and Culpeper Surgery Center received an award for exceeding patient expectations from Avatar International Inc., an industry leader in healthcare quality improvement services. The hospital and Surgery Center earned the award for positive scores on satisfaction surveys sent to our patients. To continue exceeding our patients' expectations, we need to know what we're doing right and what needs improvement. We depend on you, our patients, to give us feedback and let us know how we are doing so we can provide you with the highest quality of care.
Joint Commission Accreditation
CRH is fully accredited by The Joint Commission, a not-for-profit organization that surveys and accredits more than 20,000 healthcare organizations and programs in the United States. Accreditation by the Joint Commission is recognized as a symbol of quality and commitment to meeting performance standards and providing safe, high-quality care.
Featured by Lifenet
Lifenet, the Virginia Organ Procurement Organization, featured CRH in an issue of The Referral for successfully coordinating an organ donor harvest from our Intensive Care Unit. Thanks to the quick actions of our staff, the donation was successful, and the 57-year-old recipient is doing well. Although we are a small community hospital, we hope to continue educating staff about the donation process and its benefits. This extraordinary event marks another way our hospital is providing high-quality care that is making a difference to our community.
Recognized for Hand Hygiene
The Virginia Health Quality Center recognized CRH as the feature quality improvement story in their publication, Together for Quality, for our successful hand hygiene monitoring program that began in 2009. Hand hygiene is one of the most important ways to stop the spread of harmful germs and is promoted as a best practice among healthcare providers working in hospitals. CRH's hospital-wide hand washing rate, as observed by monitors, reached 90 percent in January 2011 and since then has not fallen below 85 percent.
