Preparing for Joint Replacement Surgery
Whether you're having a hip replacement, knee replacement or shoulder replacement, our Joint Camp will help you feel well-informed and prepared for the surgery.
As part of the class, patients and their caregivers learn about joint replacement surgery, including how it is done, prevention of complications, preoperative instructions, anesthesia options, and postoperative physical therapy and recovery. Joint Camp, which is offered once a week, is also open to anyone who is considering joint replacement surgery and would like to learn more.
Our Joint Replacement Program Coordinator and Orthopedic Nurse Practitioner, Brenda Austin, works closely with each patient throughout the entire process. From Joint Camp and the preoperation evaluation to discharge from the hospital, she customizes care and treatment to the individual for optimal recuperation.
