Hospitalist Program
A hospitalist is a physician that specializes in the care of hospital inpatients. Inpatient needs often differ from the needs of patients seen in physician offices. Hospitalists are physicians who serve as physicians-of-record for inpatients. They are able to rapidly coordinate inpatient care and react in real-time throughout the day to clinical data and changes in the patient's medical status. At Culpeper Regional Hospital, our program provides 24-hour hospitalist care.
Each primary care physician decides whether it is appropriate for his or her patient to be seen by a hospitalist during the patient's hospital stay. If your physician determines that it is best for you to be in the care of a hospitalist, he or she will discuss your care before and during your stay. Upon discharge, the hospitalist and your physician will communicate again about your condition to ensure continuity of care.
Some of the benefits of hospitalist care include:
- More immediate response to patient needs.
- More timely review of test results and treatment adjustment.
- Specialized care tailored to the needs of inpatients.
- Immediate information for family and other caregivers.
- Comprehensive team approach with hospital staff.
- Continuity of care before, during, and after hospital stay.
CRH is extremely proud to offer our patients round-the-clock hospitalist care.
