Visiting Hours & Guidelines
Your presence and support are an important part of your loved one's comfort. To make your visit as pleasant as possible, we have a variety of amenities and services available for hospital visitors. If you have any questions or need assistance, please do not hesitate to ask a member of our staff or Auxiliary.
Visiting Hours
Our first priority is the comfort, safety, and health of the patients we serve. We also recognize the importance of family and friends in the healing process, and we encourage visits from loved ones. To ensure the safety of our patients and staff and to provide a quiet, restful, healing environment for our patients, we have adopted the following visitor policy.
- Visiting hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. Exceptions will be based on the patient's request and patient and staff safety.
- Patient requests regarding visitation will be honored as much as is therapeutically and safely possible. The patient will have the right to request and withdraw visitation at any time.
- The hospital will not deny an individual visitation based on race, color, national origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, or disability. However, circumstances may warrant denying visitation based on a patient's medical needs or safety. These exceptions will be communicated to the patient.
- Best judgment will be exercised in emergencies and for pediatric and critically ill patients or when a patient's pastor has been requested to visit the patient by the patient or family.
- A parent or other responsible adult should accompany visiting children under the age of 12.
- Visitors to the Family Birth Center (FBC) must check in at the nurses' station prior to admittance to the secured patient care area. Fathers will be identified with a security bracelet, which will be supplied by the FBC staff. The bracelet should be worn at all times.
- Visitors to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) are asked to limit visits to 10 minutes each. We also ask ICU visitors to plan their visits around the ICU's designated "Quiet Time" periods, which are scheduled to promote the healing process for the patients.
- Visitors entering the hospital after 9 p.m. must enter through the Emergency and Admitting entrance. Security will be notified and will escort the visitor to the unit. The nursing unit will issue an overnight pass, and the nursing supervisor will be advised of the overnight visitor. Security should be contacted for visitors who will be leaving their vehicles overnight on hospital grounds.
Visitor Guidelines
We ask that all visitors adhere to the following guidelines at Culpeper Regional Hospital:
- Visitors should dress appropriately and must wear shoes and shirts.
- Visitation is recommended to be limited to two people at any one time. Exceptions will be made based on the health and safety of the patient and staff.
- People who have experienced a fever, cough, runny nose, sore throat, skin rash, vomiting, or diarrhea in the 48 hours prior to a planned visit are strongly discouraged from visiting until they are certain they will not expose the patient to more risk of disease. Visitors observed to have demonstrated any signs or symptoms of a communicable illness will be asked to either wear protective attire (mask, gowns) or be asked to leave until they are clear of any potential illness that may affect the patient.
- Visits should be kept short, and visitors are asked to maintain a quiet environment and avoid unnecessary noise.
- Visitors may be asked to leave the room during tests or treatments or when the doctor or nurse needs to see the patient.
- Liberal visiting arrangements may be made for families of surgical patients on the day of surgery.
- Visitors are asked to check with the nurse before bringing gifts of food and/or drink to the patients. For ICU patients, please check with the unit regarding any gifts for patients.
Contact a Patient
If you are calling a patient from outside the hospital, you will need to know the patient's room number: (540) 829-4 then the three-digit room number.
Example: If a patient were in room 555, you would dial (540) 829-4555.
If you don't know the patient's room number or if you require assistance, please call the main hospital number at (540) 829-4100.
Smoke-Free Campus
Please note that Culpeper Regional Health System is a smoke/tobacco free campus, which means smoking or the use of tobacco is prohibited on the grounds, buildings, and parking lots. For your comfort, visitors over 18 years of age can purchase nicotine gum in our Gift Shop or at nearby stores. If you would like to leave the campus to smoke or use tobacco products, we invite you to leave a cellphone number so you can be reached with any updates while you are away.
