Rehabilitation
Occupational Therapy
Occupational therapy (OT) focuses on enabling people to participate in meaningful and purposeful activities of daily life.
Occupational therapists are skilled in human growth and development. They help individuals achieve their maximum age-appropriate function, so they can be successful and gain as much independence as possible.
Culpeper Regional Health System offers pediatric occupational therapy services as well as occupational therapy for adults and seniors.
Our occupational therapists work with clients and their families in the following areas:
- Recovery from orthopedic or neurologic injury. We specialize in upper extremity function (e.g., shoulder, elbow, wrist, and hand).
- Transitional care after surgery, illness or injury. Our therapists work to help people successfully make the transition from the hospital back to their home and work. Our transitional care services include evaluations of home and job environments to optimize safety and independence.
- Fabricating or recommending splints or other adaptive equipment.
- Lymphedema rehabilitation.
- Fine motor skills training, including hand-eye coordination training.
- Fall prevention, including balance training.
